George E. Farley

George E. Farley, 89, Venice, FL, died Wednesday, May 13, 2009. George E. was born in Providence, Rhode Island on January 25, 1920. He was the husband of Lillian B. Farley and the son of the late James J. and Mary E. (Murphy) Farley, also brother of James J. Farley of Naples, Florida. He lived in Warwick, Rhode Island from 1951 to 1998, when he moved to Nokomis, Florida. Mr. Farley was former manager of the F. J. Newman Lumber Co. of North Kingstown, R.I. Before retiring in 1983, he was co-owner of “Redyhung Door Company” of North Kingstown, R.I. He was a World War II Veteran and was active in the U.S. Army Reserve, before his retirement in 1971. He was the Commanding Officer of the 443rd Civil Affairs Company of Warwick, Rhode Island. Lt. Colonel Farley was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal for service from November 1942 to September 1971. Besides his wife, he also leaves 6 daughters: Carolyn Maricq of Grosse Ile, Michigan; Patricia Farley of Torrance, California; Joan MacIntyre of Plymouth, MA; Deborah Swenson, Donna Devitt and Muriel (Bonnie) Gabrey, all of Wareham, Massachusetts; a son, George T. Farley of Southhampton, Pennsylvania. He also leaves 7 Grandsons: George P. (Chip), Kalev, Endel, Alari, A. Jared, George F., and Stephen; 3 Granddaughters: Shannon, Christine, and Candice; 6 Great Granddaughters: Caroline, Mackenna, Delaney, Daelyn, Kyra and Madison; and 4 Great Grandsons: John (Jack), Roman, Ryan and Mark. George was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
