Salvatore J. Iuliano
April 27th, 1923 - March 13th, 2009
Salvatore “Sal” Iuliano passed away March 13th, 2009. Sal was born in Akron, Ohio on April 27th 1923. Sal exemplified what it means to be part of the “Greatest Generation”. Sal graduated early from North High School then served in the Army Air Corps during World War two. Came back from the war married the love of his life his wife Lucia (DiSalvo) then received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron. Sal’s career at General Tire spanned 45 years. Started as an hourly worker while attending college when he retired he was Director of new business development for international. His international experience began in Holland where his son Gary was born. Over the next 15 yrs, Sal and his family lived in Holland, Morocco and South Africa. However, Akron was always, “home”. Sal also worked in China, India, Iran and Russia on solo assignments. Sal’s charm and smile touched many people the world over. After his retirement, Sal enjoyed traveling with his wife Lucia, volunteering for Inventure Place, golfing with his buddies at Oak Knolls and visiting his son Gary and his wife Becky in Florida. Sal was preceded in death by his parents Biagio and Giustina Iuliano, sister, Mary Oddo, sister Beatrice Pucci and brother, Dante Iuliano. He is survived by his wife, Lucia Iuliano, son, Gary Iuliano and daughter in law, Becky (Crowe) Iuliano, brother, Angelo Iuliano, his “little sister”, Lucille Gingo, and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly as well as countless friends worldwide.
