Michael W. Bates, 63, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away Friday, March 6, 2008 while vacationing in Florida. Michael was born August 22, 1945 in Panama City, Florida the son of Gordon F. and Frances E. (Shaw) Bates. Michael was a driver for Kansas City International Shuttle in Kansas City, Missouri for 15 years. He was a member of the United States Army; he loved playing golf at Rockwood Golf Course, being around the water, and his dog Winston. He is survived by his mother Frances of North Port, FL; son, Brian Bates (Cheryl) daughter, Jamie Colson (Keith) and their mother Sharon Bates all of Independence, Missouri; sister, Nancy Morley (Vernon) of Petal, Mississippi; grandsons, Mason Guhse, Evan Colson and Christian Bates all of Independence, Missouri and nieces and nephews, and family friend Bob Burling. Michael was preceded in death by his father Gordon and his sister Judy Carpenter.
