Robert E. Lawler, 83, Venice, formerly of Chicago, IL, passed on November 15, 2008. Survivors include his wife Betty, sons Patrick of Washington State and Brian of Woodridge, Illinois, a daughter Juliette Gettle of Venice, a sister Mary James of Naperville, Illinois, a brother, William of Trego, Montana, and three grandchildren. Robert was a graduate of Northwestern University and also attended John Marshall Law School. He served in WWII and the Korean War. He was also a member of the VFW. A memorial gathering will be held at Farley Funeral Home, 265 S. Nokomis Avenue, Venice, FL on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 from 4:00-6:00PM with a service to follow at 6:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tidewell Hospice & Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238. Farley Funeral Home in Venice is handling the arrangements.
