Thomas W. Horton, Sr.,78, of Venice, Florida died on Tuesday October 7, 2008 at his home. Mr. Horton was born on September 9, 1930 in Norwalk, CT to Henry T. and Gertrude (Fogerty) Horton. He moved to Venice in 2001 from Westport, CT. Mr. Horton was a retired Realtor. A veteran of the U S Navy serving on the USS Coucal as a Submarine Rescuer, during the Korean War. In 1999, he was awarded an Official Citation from the General Assembly of the State of Connecticut for his receipt of the Norwalk Old Timers’ Association Sportsman Award and for outstanding contributions to the Norwalk Community. He was of the Catholic Faith. He is survived by his companion of 27 years, Patricia Everson of Venice; children, Toni Mickiewicz of Westport, CT; Thomas W. Horton, Jr. of Warren, VT; Catherine Ann (Jason) Futoma of Newtown, CT; Colleen Hiller of Torrington, CT; Timothy Hultgren of Waitsfield, VT; sister, Patty Upright of Port Charlotte, FL; brother, Truman ( Teddy ) Horton of Bethel, CT; his grandchildren, Anthony, Alexander and Adam Mickiewicz; Madison Futoma; Ava, Calvin and Ainsley Hultgren. Also survived by Pat’s children, Robbin Rose of Nederland, CO; Austin Rose of Orlando, FL. Mr. Horton was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Barbara Miller.
