For over two centuries, Diuguid Funeral Services & Crematory has been a steadfast provider of comfort and care to the Lynchburg community. Our tenure as the oldest funeral home in Virginia and the second oldest in the United States is a testament to our enduring commitment. Originating from humble beginnings, our founder Sampson Diuguid, a skilled furniture maker from Appomattox, transformed his craft into a mission of service that has stood the test of time.
Embracing both our rich heritage and the evolving needs of our community, we have recently undergone a full renovation. Our facilities have been meticulously updated to better serve families with modern amenities and comforts. The funeral home, easily accessible and a recognizable fixture in the area, now includes an on-property cafe for the convenience of the families we serve and ample parking to accommodate guests during services and visitations.

- Price is for burial with no visitation or formal services and ceremonies. Does not include casket, outer burial container, or cemetery costs.
- Includes all of the essential services of the funeral director and staff.
- Removal of your loved one as well as local transportation to the cemetery for burial (within 25 miles).
- Care of your loved one until burial is complete. Family not present with timing at the discretion of the funeral home.
- Consultation with responsible party for final arrangements.

I called Diuguid when my husband died. Dan answered the phone immediately and took my initial information. He then set an appointment for me for the next day with Chuck Bartel. Chuck was amazing. We went over all the necessary information and options. He even discussed some of the possible family complications that we thought might arise. After that initial meeting, I called a few more times as issues or questions arose. He handled everything with patience and compassion. While I hope bot to need their services again any time soon, I know that if I need funeral services, Diuguid will make things as easy as possible. I would recommend them to anyone in the area.

My mom passed away on April Fool’s Day. April 1. Sure wished it had been a joke. Mom had already pre planned her funeral arrangements with Diuguid.
We met with Dan Mason who was absolutely amazing. It was easier meeting with him because he already had a background of our family.
Dan was very kind, caring, truly knew how to comfort us in our grief. Diuguid did a wonderful job preparing mom. Hair was beautiful. Makeup was beautiful. She truly looked so beautiful and peaceful.
Dan and his team made sure we had everything we needed for visitation and for the funeral itself.
Dan also officiated the funeral. He did an AWESOME and BEAUTIFUL sermon.
Mom’s home going was done with such care and dignity.
